Download Certificate From Website Mac

Someday you may need to get the SSL certificate of a website and save it locally.

On the resulting Certificates page, you will see a box titled “Drag files received from your certificate vendor here”, drag-and-drop Your Server Certificate (.crt or.cer) into this box and click Ok. Go back to the main Certificates page. From the Server App window, under Server, click Certificates. In the Keychain Access app on your Mac, in the Category list, select a category. Double-click a certificate. Click the Trust disclosure triangle to display the trust policies for the certificate. To override the trust policies, choose new trust settings from the pop-up menus. SSL Certificates need to be issued from a trusted Certificate Authority. Usually, browsers and operating systems get a list of trusted CA root certificates. You can buy certificate from different authority (the cost starts from 30€) such as GlobalSign, DigiCert, and go on. I have this website which contains an untrusted certificate (self signed). Now I want to download this certificate. But, for example, in Chrome, you only can 'Proceed' or go back (no download option). I'm on a Mac, so I've checked the Keychain access tool but it contains a lot.

For example, you could get an error saying that you can’t clone a Git repository due to a self-signed certificate and to resolve this issue you would need to download the SSL certificate and make it trusted by your Git client.

In the following article i am showing how to export the SSL certificate from a server (site URL) using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer browsers as well as how to get SSL certificate from the command line, using openssl command.
